As Season 8 kicks off without the (blatantly) obvious presence of Steve Carell, the producers of The Office have already started making casting arrangements to keep the show moving.
One role is for a woman described as “Scranton hot.” She’s hired as an assistant to the office manager. Her former job was at an old folks’ home and she seems “pleasant and smart.”
The second role is for a man who’s fresh on the job market who joins Dunder Mifflin’s accounting department. The guy used to work at a golf course, probably went a community college, and is just happy to have a real job in this tough market. He’s “good-looking, but not WB looking.” (I’m loving whoever is writing these casting descriptions).
The parts are in addition to the role of Stanley’s older daughter — a part that’s now being cast that may also become a series regular.
There also rumors surfacing that Jo (Kathy Bates) will have a son who surfaces in a role at the Scranton Branch.
There is still speculation as to what will be happening to Michael Scotts managerial position. As the season 7 finale draws near, many are still wondering who will be filling the void. From what we know so far, by the end of season 7, one character will have Scott’s job — but that person is not necessarily Carell’s replacement as the show’s star. Sources say writers are tempted to have the character who becomes the Scranton branch’s new boss fail in some spectacular manner, leaving the seat open again for another successor during Season 8.
